Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and southern superstar Mohanlal are currently in talks to do the Hindi and south version of the suspense thriller Gumnaam. The news has been confirmed by the producer Jayantilal Gada.

“We have approached them but they are yet to sign on the dotted lines. We have narrated the story to them and they both have given positive feedback. For the south version, we have Mohanlal and for Hindi part, we have Amitabh Bachchan,” Gada said.

Speaking about whether the film would be a remake of 1965 film Gumnaam which had Manoj Kumar and Nanda in the lead role, Gada said, “We are on the project, which is a suspense thriller. It is not a remake of Gumnaam. It is a remake of a Tamil film, whose title we can’t reveal at the moment. We have just used the title Gumnaam.”

Helmed by E Niwas, the shooting of the film will be held on the island in Mauritius. The film will hit the theaters next year. Director E Niwas is a celebrated name in the industry whose last release was Totla Siyapaa.

Currently, Amitabh Bachchan is shooting for Thugs Of Hindostan which is a forthcoming period action adventure film, written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya.
