Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has elevated her career nationally and internationally. She brings life on screen with her acting dexterity and charming demeanour. In an interaction with media during the launch of Hema Malini’s biography, Beyond Dream Girl, Deepika Padukone divulged in few details of her forthcoming film Padmavati.

Talking about her experience of playing Rani Padmavati, who was a Rajput queen, Deepika said, “Working on Padmavati was an exhausting experience. It takes quite a lot to work on a character for nine months constantly round the clock. Certain characters just don’t leave your system.”

She further added about her experience working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on three films, Deepika said, “I feel extremely fortunate to work continuously with someone like Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Over five years, we have worked on three films back to back. I have played extremely challenging, empowering and powerful roles in his films.”

Speaking about the competition of Hindi Cinema with global cinema and the necessity to make movies with bigger budgets, Deepika said, “Is budget an issue today? It is! Would we like a larger budget to make a film like Padmavati? Of course! That’s where the cinema has gone today, in terms of what the audience demands, and in terms of how much the industry, not only in India, but globally how much we’ve grown. We have to multiply. We don’t have one horse but hundred horses, and we have to make them ten thousand horses.”

Helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Padmavati also stars Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh along with Deepika Padukone in the pivotal roles. The film will release on December 1.
