Chak De! India

Directed by Shimit Amin and produced by Yash Raj Films, the film stars Shah Rukh Khan as the coach of Indian women’s hockey team, Kabir Khan. The movies revolve around Kabir Khan who is an Indian Hockey Player, who was accused of match-fixing when India lost to Pakistan. He then returned as a coach for the women’s Hockey where India won the Gold Medal.

Lagaan

The film is set in the Victorian period of India’s colonial British Raj and revolves around the peasants from a barren village who are oppressed by high taxes imposed by their rulers. They attempt to persuade the British officers to reduce the taxes because of poor agricultural production. Then the story evolves and how Aamir Khan along with the people of a small village in India beat some arrogant Englishmen at their own game; Cricket. Made on an unprecedented budget of 250 Million Rupees, Lagaan. This movie was nominated for Academy Award for the Best Foreign Language Film.

Mary Kom

Five times World Boxing Champion and the only woman boxer in the world to win a medal in each one of the six world championships, Mary Kom is India’s finest boxer. She is also the first Indian woman boxer to grab a Gold Medal in Asian Games in 2014. All this led Omung Kumar to make a movie on her which was a massive hit. Priyanka Chopra did a fantastic acting in the movie and played the role of Mary Kom in the perfect way.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is the inspirational true story of India’s Flying Sikh, Milkha Singh, who came within a whisker of winning an Olympic medal. Farhan Akhtar does full justice in the lead role as the legendary athlete. Coupled with an inspiring background score, this movie will motivate you to get off your couch and work on your fitness.

Paan Singh Tomar

Paan Singh Tomar was an Indian soldier and athlete who served in the Indian Army, where his talent for running was discovered. A seven-time national steeplechase champion, he represented India at the 1958 Asian Games. The movie Paan Singh Tomar shows all those events which forced an athlete to become a dacoit. The talented Irrfan Khan played the character of Paan Singh Tomar.

Dangal

Biopic of Mahavir Singh Phogat, who taught wrestling to his daughters Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat. Geeta Phogat was India’s first female wrestler to win at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, where she won the gold medal (55 kg) while her sister Babita Kumari won the silver (51 kg).
