My top ten

Turn Back Time by DASU featuring Charly Black is out now

The beginning: Recording my first song when I was in high school as a 15 year old will always be memorable. I had just started musically and got discovered by a producer who gave me a chance to turn my writing into songs.  It was an amazing experience for me and ended up changing my life.

Meeting Jay Sean: I always looked up to Jay growing up and his music has been so influential in my life, so meeting him was an amazing feeling. Especially since he also respects my art and that makes it extra special.

Watching Chris Brown perform on stage: I was just blown away by watching his live performances and so inspired by the stage presence he had. He is a good teacher when it comes to performing.

Big recording: After recording a couple of songs I got a chance to record in a legit big studio, which was a game changer for me. It helped my craft so much and taught me how music engineers work. That is also why I have started engineering my songs too.

Getting signed: I got signed to Universal Music Group in January 2015 and got an opportunity to develop under them for a couple of years before dropping my first single Turn Back Time featuring Charly Black. It’s truly a blessing to be able to work with the best label in the world.

Working with Rishi Rich: I reached out to Rishi Rich and he agreed to work with me. We have gone on to do some amazing music and make life-changing moves. He helped me get signed to UMG and gave me a chance to showcase my talents. He definitely believed in me before anyone else did.

Recording my first EP: It was really great creating my first short album called Holding On. It is out everywhere now. It includes songs called Holding On, Gone, Forget About It and Did I Love You. Holding On and Did I Love You both have videos on my Vevo channel. Check them out.

Shooting my music videos: I love shooting and directing my music videos because when I write my songs I have a vision of them. So it is always great bringing them to life with music videos. It is like putting the final touches because without a video I always feel like the song is missing something. I love visuals that tell the story of the song, especially when it’s my own. I feel like the audience gets to know the artist a little bit better.

Big single: Working on my first major single Turn Back Time with Charly and shooting it in Miami has been immense. Turn Back Time was such a fun track to record. I’ve performed it at a major event in India and Mega Jam 2017 in New York. Crowds have loved the song everywhere. The real r’n’b feel with dancehall energy is such a perfect mix. It brings a flare in today’s music game and I’m so proud to have Charly on the song. He’s a dope artist and I’m happy we have a song together that I’m so proud of.

Million mark: Hitting over a million streams with Turn Back Time was joyous. I was so happy when I saw I had over a million streams for my first major single. I’m glad people love it and it’s making a difference in lives of the listeners. I’ve received amazing positive messages from fans and people who are down with me. That’s truly a blessing.
