Ever since Shahid Kapoor visited Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s office, rumours about him collaborating with the filmmaker for a film are circulating.
As per the reports in a leading Indian daily, the actor meeting the director signals a movie together.
A source said to a leading Indian daily, “Shahid and Rakeysh met and discussed the idea of doing a movie together. Although nothing is on paper yet, the actor has shown a keen interest in Mehra’s film on Kabaddi.”
The source further added, “Today, sports films have a space of their own and he’s never really tried out this genre. When he heard Rakeysh is doing a movie on Kabaddi, he approached him to discuss the possibility of acting in it.”
If the rumour turns out to be true, then the combination of this actor-director duo will rock the big screens.
However, Shahid is currently shooting for Shree Narayan Singh’s Batti Gul Meter Chalu, where in he will be essaying the role of a lawyer in the movie. The movie chronicles about the rising prices of electricity bills that has caused problems for the common citizens.
During the release of the trailer of the movie in Diwali, Singh had said, “The subject of the film is very relevant to our times. Diwali makes it just the right occasion for us to shed light on a subject that needs to be discussed. We look forward to making a film that is both commercially entertaining and encourages a social conversation.”
Batti Gul Meter Chalu is scheduled to release on August 31, 2018.
Meanwhile, Rakeysh too is currently shooting for Fanne Khan starring Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao and Divya Dutta. The film is helmed by Atul Manjrekar.
Fanne Khan is scheduled to release in June 2018.
