Vidya Balan criticizes Indian culture’s attitude towards sex

Actress Vidya Balan condemns societal ideology with regards to sex. She claims that the Indian culture perceives sex in terms of only reproduction and within the jurisdiction of marriage. The actress claims that such an ideology ruins the” joy of intimacy.” Her message to the people of the country is to know that sex should be treated as a feeling and not as a taboo.

As per the reports in IANS, Vidya said,“It feels funny how inspite of being the most populated country in the world, we still don’t talk about sex openly.”

The actress will be seen in a video titled Taboo of Kripya Dhyan De series on Zoom Studios. Adding further, she said, “The idea of sex is looked down by people because Indian culture wants us to be sexual only in the institution of marriage, for purposes of procreation. But the whole feeling, the joy of intimacy, pleasure and fun is missing.”

The actress who has given some powerful performances in Parineeta, Paa and The Dirty Picture, further went on to say that the attitude towards sex needs to be changed, she said, “We must strive for a traditional and yet modern balance, and (aim) for the hypocrisy related to sex to go away. Our children need to know that sex is a feeling, not a taboo.”

On the professional front, Vidya Balan will be seen in the upcoming Tumhari Sulu which will release on November 17. The film chronicles about a house wife who aspires to become a radio jockey and struggles to put in spice to the lives of her family with her unusual talent. The film is Suresh Triveni’s directorial.
